Brewing family fun

Transitioning from traditional league house to family-friendly FEC comes up frequently on our podcast Striking Success (subscribe if you haven’t already!). Here’s how one of our clients, Laser Alleys in York, PA, went about the journey.

• Following PA’s indoor smoking ban for restaurants, they got smoking out of the center.
• Spotting the family trend early on, Laser Alleys (as it came to be known) traded several bowling lanes for a laser tag area.
• After noticing that their new family-focused crowd didn’t always mesh well with their traditional bar crowd, they opted to convert the bar into a brewery by partnering with a local brand.
• Instead of appealing primarily to adult men, they offer something fun for the entire family and enjoy a much larger audience.
• Now they’re creating social leagues centered around beer enthusiasts and creating a following around the brewery.

Sean sums up their journey nicely:

“There used to be a day when it was 80% league bowling and 20% open bowling. Our location is now almost dead opposite of that.”
